The  painting of La Perouse is by Marie Détrée, Official Painter of the the French Navy, who recently carried out a mission to Sydney during the International Fleet Review.  A book on this mission, to be titled  A Mission in the Pacific, is in preparation.  The book will pay homage to the La Perouse site where there was a fine ceremony with the crew of the Vendémiaire on the 7th October.  In addition a calendar will be produced and sold for the benefit of French benevolent societies in Australia.
